Paying for support

This page is designed to offer advice on the different ways in which support can be paid for.

Pay for support privately

Some clients or their families may wish to pay for their own support in full or top up the amount that social services award them. Vive UK Social Care can provide this support at a range of charges depending on the support required.

Direct Payments

Some clients may be eligible to receive money from the government called ‘direct payment’. This is to allow clients the choice of which care provider they wish to use and they type of support they wish to receive.

To find out if you are eligible for direct payments you can contact your local council who will send a social worker along to assess your support needs. For more information about direct payments call 0113 214 3599 or e-mail This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.

Independent Living Funds

Independent living funds (ILF) are government grants dedicated to the financial support of individuals requiring care, enabling them to live in the community rather than residential care. You can contact ILF directly for more information on 0845 601 8815 or e-mail an enquiry to This email address is being protected from spambots. Personal Budgets

Direct payments will be changing to become part of a new system called ‘personal budgets’. A personal budget will let you pay for a wide choice of support services you need – either council or non-council services. For more information about personal budgets call 0113 214 6210
